Public Lecture on Women's Right to Land

On 27th September, 209 people attended a public lecture facilitated by WOFHRAD-SL, funded by ActionAid SL, on Women’s Right to Land. The lecture took place at Kamakwie in Sellah Limba chiefdom, Bombali District, Sierra Leone. The aim of the lecture was to ensure women in rural communities were made aware of their legal right to own land under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; arts. 2 and 17.

The talk was delivered by highly respected stakeholders in the community including the Paramount Chief Representative, the Chiefdom speaker, the Women’s Representative (Mamy Queen), the Youth Chair, the Chiefdom Imam, the Counselor and an ActionAid Focal person. The lecture was an outstanding success as most of the attendees were women rural farmers who voiced their appreciation of the talk.
